Bošković: It would be difficult to predict the change in fuel prices in BiH

SARAJEVO, June 13 (FENA) - President of the Association of Petroleum Products Traders with the FBiH Chamber of Commerce Milenko Bošković told FENA that it would be difficult to predict the changes in fuel prices in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period.

He reminded that with the outbreak of the pandemic, there was a drastic drop in prices, which is why many stopped production, but that it recovered over time and now amounts to about USD 70 per barrel.

"We should bear in mind that BiH imports 100 percent of petroleum products from four or five sources, that there are less than 10 wholesalers, and that the proposal to limit margins is still in the parliamentary procedure," said Bošković.

He emphasized that fuel prices in BiH are currently the lowest in the region and that more than half of the price structure consists of excise taxes and various levies.

"Each company pursues its own price policy, but in most cases in the summer, due to higher fuel consumption, fuel prices rise, although it used to happen that they fall as well," stated Bošković.

Bošković added that many distributors' business was endangered during the pandemic, which is why some even considered the introduction of self-service at gas stations, which would lead to the dismissal of workers.
