Dodik: The verdict against Mladić has little to do with law and justice

SARAJEVO, June 8 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik said today in Banja Luka that the final verdict against the former Republika Srpska Army Chief of Staff, Ratko Mladić to life in prison has little to do with law and justice.

He pointed out that "according to the findings of the institute from Sarajevo, 96,000 people died in the last war in BiH, of whom 29,000 were Serbs, or about 30 percent, while only two percent of verdicts were handed down for crimes against Serbs."

He added that the Hague tribunal, with its verdicts, "punished primarily Serbs and contributed to the distrust among the peoples being even greater."

"In this way, General Mladić was elevated to the status of a legend, because the Serb people know that without his command and his spirit that he kept in the army, there would be much more suffering of our people," said Dodik.

He also expressed his condolence to all victims of the past war, regardless of religion and nation, emphasizing that he was "sorry that such a tragic event happened, but also that the fight to preserve the basic values of Republika Srpska and strengthening its autonomy in accordance with the Dayton Agreement should continue."
