SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - The Committee for Coordination of the Implementation of the Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 in the Federation of BiH concluded at today's meeting that the further vaccination process will be suspended until Thursday, March 18, while the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will individually study each case, analyze the data and make a decision on the connection between the reported incidents with the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, announced the FBiH Institute of Public Health.
According to the Institute, the reason for the meeting was the reported adverse reactions after vaccination in several countries (Austria, Italy, Germany, Denmark…), due to which several countries temporarily suspended vaccination with this vaccine.
As they point out, no serious side effects have been reported in the Federation of BiH so far, after the application of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“We emphasize that the AstraZeneca vaccine has been tested on more than 30,000 people and that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has analyzed extensive data showing that the vaccine is safe. Also, according to available data from the EU and the UK, to date, more than 17 million people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and fewer than 40 cases of blood clots have been reported. It is important to point out that the benefits of the vaccine still far outweigh the risks, but that it is certainly necessary to investigate each incident and conduct a detailed analysis. The Coordination Committee will monitor all developments and, following new information and evidence, make a decision on the further process of immunization with the AstraZeneca vaccine,” it was announced from the Office of the Director of the FBiH Institute of Public Health.
