SARAJEVO, January 20 (FENA) - A member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Saša Magazinović believes that with the arrival of Joe Biden as the new US President, the United States will not change its attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, but will, in fact, increase its engagement.
"My personal expectations from the new US administration, apart from the continuity that is inevitable, are an intensified engagement here, as the US in the 90s was a key factor that saved tens, if not hundreds of thousands of lives, ending the war and conflicts," Magazinovic told FENA.
He pointed out that the United States, unlike Europe, has had an identical attitude in terms of values about everything that is happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina all these years after the war.
"It has never happened to them so far that they suggested something as a solution to any problem that they would not implement in their own country and that was a rule, on the other hand, the European side did such things. Therefore, it can be said that the United States has continuity when it comes to BiH, which was not influenced by whether the president comes from the ranks of Democrats or Republicans," said Magazinović.
He stressed that "the new administration that is coming now, in addition to continuing the heritage values that have been present here so far from the US administration, has one additional value, and that is that they are very familiar with the specifics of Bosnia and Herzegovina and even certain people who will find themselves in very high-ranking positions within the US administration, both emotionally and in terms of past activities are very close to BiH."
"I believe that this is an exceptional advantage for us, that it is a great chance for BiH. I believe that America, at least as far as I am concerned, is the most important foreign policy partner besides the European Union. All those who doubt the power of the United States of America to protect the values they are fighting for, and in BiH they are certainly the values of multiculturalism, equality of all, I think they are very wrong," Magazinović pointed out.
