SARAJEVO, January 11 (FENA) - The House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported at its session today, after the House of Representatives did it in October last year, the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Internal Payment System of the FBiH.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Jelka Milićević explained to the MPs that this law envisages the establishment of a register of accounts of private entities, which will be done by the Financial-Information Agency (FIA).
"This will enable faster and easier identification of debtors' accounts in tax and enforcement proceedings, as well as in other court proceedings, in the investigation of suspicious activities, prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism activities, etc.
This will also contribute to more efficient work of competent courts, taxation, investigative and other bodies, which will facilitate and accelerate access to data on bank accounts of individuals, which will not have to submit requests, as they were obliged before, from individual banks, but directly from the FIA, and which is authorized by this law to establish and maintain a register of the accounts of private entities," explained Milićević.
The register will not contain data on the balance and turnover of accounts, nor will the data be publicly available because the regulations governing business secrets and the protection of personal data will be applied.
This law also creates the conditions for competition between banks and card systems to lead to faster development of non-cash payments, stated the FBiH Government as the official proponent of the Bill.
