FENA Press release

SARAJEVO/BELGRADE, November 30 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) Nebojša Radmanović met today in Belgrade, as part of an official visit to the Republic of Serbia, with National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dačić.

Expressing satisfaction with the fact that Chairman Radmanović is one of the first parliamentary leaders to visit the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in this convocation, Dačić emphasized that Serbia attaches great importance to preserving and developing good and friendly bilateral relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dačić reiterated the well-known position that Serbia respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement, which, in the context of the 25th anniversary of the agreement, he said could be changed only by agreement and consensus of all three peoples and two entities in BiH.

Chairman Radmanović briefed President Dačić on the current political situation in BiH after the local elections, emphasizing that political relations in BiH are complex and burdened by different interpretations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and different views on the functioning and survival of the Office of the High Representative in BiH.

According to Radmanović, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia should work to resolve all outstanding issues, especially the issue of concluding a border agreement between the two countries.

Radmanović also called for strengthening co-operation between the two countries on regional initiatives, including an initiative to create a "mini Schengen" between the Western Balkan countries.

At the same time, Radmanović emphasized the need for close co-operation and exchange of experiences between parliamentary bodies on European integration issues.

The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to establish the practice of holding a meeting of representatives of the two-state parliaments at the highest level once a year.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nebojša Radmanović, invited the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, to visit BiH, which was gladly accepted, the Public Relations Department of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina said.
