SARAJEVO, November 13 (FENA) - The Central Election Commission, at a press conference dedicated to the election day, Sunday, November 15, 2020, announced that 543 political entities are running in these elections, including 129 political parties, 262 independent candidates and 72 coalitions.

Since these elections will take place in the conditions of the COVID pandemic, all participants in the election process should adhere to the prescribed hygienic-epidemiological measures, which implies sufficient physical distancing.

The controllers will make sure that when waiting for the vote, for example on the floors in the hallways of primary schools, before arriving at the polling station, there will not be more than 30 people simultaneously, so other voters will have to wait in line outside.

"These elections will be a huge challenge for all participants in the process. Back in June, the CEC adopted instructions on how to act on election day, in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. According to the instructions, the physical distancing between members of polling stations committees will have to be ensured, and all polling stations will have to be disinfected at certain intervals.

When it comes to the procurement of protective equipment and disinfectants, the largest number of local constituencies provided the equipment. According to the latest information, Kreševo and Han Pijesak constituencies are the only ones that did not do so. The others, to a greater or lesser extent, provided the equipment," the CEC President Željko Bakalar said at the press conference.

"At one polling station, you have a polling committee, voters and observers. There can be a lot of people there at any given moment. The problem is the corridors, in which, if there are several polling places on a single floor, it can happen that we have more than 30 people inside. For that reason, the line controllers will allow a certain number of voters to wait in line while the others will wait outside," said the CEC member Irena Hadžiabdić.

The Central Election Commission called on voters to go to the polls, as well as all participants in the election process to contribute to the fair and democratic atmosphere of the Local Elections in BiH 2020.
