International operational activity 'JAD South East Europe 2020' implemented

SARAJEVO, 6 October (FENA) - Organized by EUROPOL, EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats) and the Kingdom of Spain, a member of EUROPOL as the bearer of activities for 2020 implemented the international operational action "JAD South East Europe 2020" from 24 to 27 September in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The activity was attended by law enforcement representatives from a total of 34 EU member states and Western Balkan countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies said.

The operation was implemented in order to address the three priorities of EMPACT - combating arms trafficking, illegal migration and drug trafficking.

The organizer and coordinator of activities during this international operational action in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where for the purposes of the activity a main coordination center for police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established. 

During the implementation of the operational activity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a large number of police officers were engaged in the field, controlling 86,827 persons and 9,023 vehicles at border crossings and inland, controlled 187 locations (hostels, private houses, temporary shelters, etc.), and controlled 511 shipments.

Also, during the implementation of the operational activity, a certain number of firearms, gas and air weapons, ammunition of various calibers, ecstasy narcotic tablets, and a certain amount of the narcotic drugs speed and marijuana were found and confiscated. In addition, 10 persons were deprived of liberty related to criminal offenses in the field of possession of weapons and explosives, unauthorized possession of narcotics and violation of migration regulations, and four new investigations were initiated in Bosnia and Herzegovina for criminal offenses related to the "Unauthorized production and trade" and "Illegal possession of weapons and explosive devices".

The Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina thanked the law enforcement agencies in BiH that participated in the preparation and implementation of this activity, and emphasizes the readiness to continuously take further measures and actions within its competence in order to combat all in the field of organized crime.
