SARAJEVO, September 9 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović i članoviand members of the Presidency Milorad Dodik and Željko Komšić met today in Sarajevo with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer and talked about the political and economic situation in BiH, 25 years since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, a historic event that played a key role in establishing peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Members of the BiH Presidency thanked for the assistance and partnership role of the United States in implementing key reforms. They also reiterated the commitment to resolving issues important for the prosperity of the country, which is the focus of the BiH Presidency.
Palmer reiterated the United States active support for Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementing the necessary reforms, strengthening democracy and the rule of law.
The commitment of the Presidency of BiH is to continue cooperation in the implementation of the set of socio-economic reforms, the fight against corruption and the fight against human trafficking.
Members of the Presidency of BiH emphasized that there is an absolute consensus in Bosnia and Herzegovina when it comes to the European future of the country.
The progress made on the European path under the leadership of the BiH Presidency was also welcomed.
Special focus has been placed on the global consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants of the meeting also discussed the negative impact of the pandemic on economic stability and prosperity, as well as the modalities for recovery and rebuilding of key segments of the economy.
One of the topics was also the migrant crisis, as well as ways to overcome the existing situation and find a sustainable solution.
The members of the Presidency of BiH thanked the Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH Eric Nelson for all the help and support in resolving key issues of interest to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Presidency of BiH.
