SARAJEVO, September 1 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić, commenting on the events after the announcement of elections results in Montenegro, expressed hope that the situation would stabilize by the time the government is formed in that country, but that the images we have witnessed for the past two days show us very well what kind of politics is being promoted.
He said that one should be wise and careful, because, 'when the matches are lit, then it is usually too late', and, in his words, the memories of the war in BiH are very much alive today - why the war had happened and who orchestrated it who was the one who attacked and who defended themselves.
"Everything we thought could never happen again, it proved to be alive and in full force in the past two days in Montenegro. That is not democracy. The events in the north of Montenegro, the attacks on Bosniaks, most clearly show what this is all about," said Komšić in a statement for the media.
He added that it was similar in the period from 1990 to 1992 in BiH, and that "a lot of people took everything very lightly, even those in Sarajevo".
This whole concept of aggressive chauvinism and fascism can push the whole region in a direction that can be horrible and tragic, Komšić emphasized.
"We have to be careful and smart. I call on the people of Sarajevo to think carefully about what is going on in the region, to suppress personal, material and political interests. A slightly different and political, perhaps geopolitical game is being played here. We need to be wise so that our children do not go through what we went through - count the dead who gave their lives for freedom," said Komšić.
