SARAJEVO, March 26 (FENA) – General Manager of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) prof. dr. Sebija Izetbegović called on the citizens to act responsibly regarding the coronavirus pandemic and told them that there is no room for panic, but that the situation is very serious.

“We want citizens to respect the rules prescribed by the Crisis Staff. It is extremely important that patients who come to KCUS and other healthcare facilities to provide right and honest information about whether they have had contacts that may have compromised them, where they moved, and I claim that they will not be stigmatized and that they will receive treatment,” said Izetbegović for FENA.

She also stressed that they envisaged all measures to protect the health care staff, but that it must be prevented that hospitals are not contaminated.

She recalled that about 500 health professionals in Croatia are in self-isolation, which means that they will miss a large number of people who should provide patients with services.

Prof. dr. Sandra Zubović, who is in charge of pandemic flu diagnostics, claims that there is a large number of tests and that there is no reason for fear.

She claims that none of the citizens of BiH came to do the test on their own initiative.

“KCUS has all the medicines currently used in the treatment of coronavirus infection or we are able to obtain one. Although these are experimental medicines, and they have shown very good efficacy, we are ready to use them,” said Assistant Professor Dr. Rusmir Baljić.

He said that there is no specific cure for coronuvirus and that the only way to control the infection is to stop transmission between people.

Prim. Dr. Bosnako Horozović told citizens that they can be calm and that KCUS has been ready to respond to the coronavirus pandemic since January.

He also emphasized that because of this they organized two large isolation wards, Podhrastovi Clinic is equipped to accommodate the most severe patients, and that the other one at the Faculty of Civil Engineering where there are 200 beds for patients with moderate or lighter clinical condition.
