SARAJEVO, September 19 (FENA) - Germany continues its long-standing commitment to humanitarian demining in Bosnia and Herzegovina with an investment of an additional 550,000 euros.
The German government makes the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) available through direct grants.
With this support, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) continues the demining activities in the municipality of Ljubljenica, where it began demining the site already last year. MAG will also clear suspected locations in the Tuzla region.
“With the resources available, MAG can clean up about five square miles of suspicious sites. Subsequently, these areas are mainly used for agriculture, forestry and made available for the return of the population,” said the German Embassy.
The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has, since 1997, provided around €36 million for humanitarian demining and thus provided mine-free space in the immediate vicinity of the population.
