SARAJEVO, September 3 (FENA) - Association for Genetic Conservation of BiH Endemic and Indigenous Resources "Genofond" with the support of the University of Sarajevo - Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (INGEB) will host a series of scientific meetings, conferences and workshops in the field of genetics, which will begin on September 4 in Sarajevo as part of the G-BiKE COST action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).

Mission of the project is to connect scientists, managers and users of natural wealth across Europe to emphasize the importance of applying scientific knowledge in genetics and genomics in the conservation of plant and animal life, as INGEB confirmed for FENA.

The main idea of the G-BiKE project is to establish a system of using genomic data as a standard tool in environmental programs, populations and species of wildlife with standardization of protocols for detection and monitoring of genetic diversity of species and their adaptive potential at European Union level.

This newly formed network of scientists from 32 European countries will, throughout the project, connect, as the acronym of the project alludes to a bicycle, two key segments (wheels) in ecosystem protection programs - scientists and all those who directly apply ecosystem protection programs.
