SARAJEVO, September 2 (FENA) - Around 2000 cyclists from BiH took part in this-year’s mass cycling event "Giro di Sarajevo".
Cyclists took their start positions in front of ''Skender Kulenović'' school in Dobrinja, rode their bicycles to the City Hall and back to the finish line in Wilson’s Alley.
“This event is the peak of the cycling season in BiH, it promotes cycling and healthy living. We are happy that the authorities also recognized importance of cycling and Ministry of Sports and Culture of Sarajevo Canton is one of the sponsors of Giro di Sarajevo," one of the organizers Tarik Šabanović told FENA.
Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Mirvad Kurić participated in the race and emphasized he is pleased that funds are secured for all benefits that cycling brings to an urban environment.
“I am so happy with the great number of participants, which shows we will continue developing cycling in Sarajevo. Thanks to ‘Giro di Sarajevo’ association there are a lot of cycling lanes, and the Ministry will continue supporting them in that”, Kurić told FENA.
