BiH Presidency Member Izetbegović meets with Italian Ambassador Minasi

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 19 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegović, received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to BiH, Nicola Minasi.

The collocutors exchanged views on the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly with regard to the Euro-Atlantic integration process.

They estimated that the submission of the Questionnaire to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker at the end of this month would be an incentive for everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure that conditions for EU membership are fulfilled faster and more efficiently in the coming period.

They pointed out that the new European Commission's Strategy for the Western Balkans has given BiH a new chance to accelerate its accession to the EU.

Mr. Izetbegović stressed that three conditions were very important for the accelerated progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina: stopping the negative, provocative rhetoric, which would lead to the stabilization of political opportunities and attracting investments; implementing reforms with the adoption of European standards; and investing in infrastructure projects.

Mr. Izetbegović thanked Ambassador Minasi for the strong support that Italy provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina in meeting the conditions for Euro-Atlantic integration, stated the BiH Presidency.
