SARAJEVO, May 22 (FENA) - The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina dismissed the current ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Malaysia, Senaid Memić, and appointed the new ambassador Edin Jahić to that position.

The BiH Presidency told FENA that the extraordinary session at which these decisions were adopted was held on May 18. This accepted the proposal of Denis Bećirović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that Memić be relieved of his duties.

Senaid Memić, the former mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža, was arrested in Sarajevo on May 11 by order of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, which charges him with abuse of position and authority.

He is suspected of abusing the position of municipality mayor when granting permits to the Saudi investor Malak Group. In 2013, the investor received a permit to build a building in the area of Ilidža, which includes the ground floor and four floors. Two years later, the investor is allowed to have seven floors by the decision of the Spatial Planning Service of the Municipality of Ilidža.

The newly appointed ambassador Edin Jahić (born in 1968) graduated in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. He received his master's degree in international relations, European studies at the University of Bologna, and his doctorate at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Sarajevo.

Jahić has more than 20 years of experience in working with international organizations. From 1997 to 2009, he worked for the European Commission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the director of the EU higher education reform program, Tempus.

From 2010 until today, he has been working on projects financed and implemented by the EU, UN, EBRD, OECD, Sida, the governments of Great Britain, the Netherlands, KfW (German Development Bank) in all sectors and segments of sustainable development in the Western Balkans, Central Asia and Africa.
