BANJA LUKA, July 1 (FENA) - The Administrative Inspection of Republika Srpska found that Branislav Zeljković does not meet the requirements to be an expert advisor in the Administration of Civil Protection of the RS after the application submitted by Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TIBiH).

The former director of the Institute of Public Health of the RS, who was arrested due to the scandal related to the procurement of equipment during the pandemic, got a job without a competition as an expert advisor after being released from custody, TIBiH states in a press release.

As it is further stated, Zeljković did not meet the requirements regarding professional education for this position, "because the pharmaceutical faculty he graduated from is not intended for the position of expert advisor according to the Ordinance on the internal organization and systematization of workplaces".

“TIBiH informed the Administrative Inspection about this, which then ordered the Director of Civil Protection to hand Zeljković a decision on termination of employment within 15 days,” it is stated.

Zeljković, as claimed in the response to TIBiH from the Civil Protection, was employed in a specific position "because of the increased workload for a certain period of time, and he was previously dismissed from the position of director of the Institute for Public Health of the RS due to detention".

TIBiH filed a criminal complaint against him in 2020 due to the conclusion of disputed contracts with the companies 'Procontrol' and 'Travel for fun' due to the illegal procurement of medical equipment during the pandemic, they remind from TIBiH.

In that case, the RS Public Prosecutor's Office is still conducting the investigation, and Zeljković was released from custody on February 16 of this year after spending five months.

In the notification of the inspection that was delivered to TIBiH, it is stated that the inspection informed the Government of the RS about the determined irregularities and called on the Government to act according to the law, i.e. dismiss Nenad Ćuk from this position.

TIBiH calls on the Government of the RS to comply with the inspection order because this provision of the law is often not respected during the successive appointments of numerous heads of the administrative bodies in the RS, it is stated in the statement.
