BiH Prosecutor's Office checks allegations from the reports in connection with the election process

SARAJEVO, October 16 (FENA) - On the day of the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on October 2, as well as in the period before and after, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina received and recorded a certain number of reports related to allegations of illegalities and irregularities in the context of the electoral process.

As FENA learns from BiH Prosecutor's Office, in the meantime more reports were received from the Central Election Commission of BiH (CEC BiH) and the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), as well as from natural persons/citizens.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina points out that within their jurisdiction, together with partner institutions and agencies, they verify allegations from reports, but cases related to reports of illegalities and irregularities in the election process for entity levels are within jurisdiction of entity judicial institutions and police agencies.

“When it comes to the election process for the president of the RS, it is within the jurisdiction of the Republic and district public prosecutor's offices in RS, and in case of need, the BiH Prosecutor's Office will provide all kinds of assistance and help in accordance with the law,” the State Prosecutor's Office states.
 
At the same time, they remind that the BiH Prosecutor's Office and SIPA received and registered a total of 27 complaints from citizens related to the election process on the day of the General Elections.
 
“Acting on duty for the day of the General Elections, the on-duty prosecutors, who together with SIPA police officers were on duty in regional centers in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla, received reports from citizens or institutions that related to the violation of public order and peace at the polling stations, allegation of election irregularities that related to possible criminal acts, as well as various events and incidents related to the election process,” the State Prosecutor's Office announced earlier.
 
Even before the elections were held, the BiH Prosecutor's Office received several reports with allegations of illegal activities, related to voter registration, voting abroad, influence on the electoral will of citizens and other illegal activities.
 
In addition to the CC of BiH, electoral irregularities are sanctioned by entity and Brčko District laws.
