Five victims of the past war identified at the Identification Center in Goražde

SARAJEVO, May 27 (FENA) - Five victims of the past war were identified today in the premises the Identification Center in Goražde. These are victims of Bosniak nationality who were killed during 1992 and 1993 in the area of Foča, and their remains were exhumed in 2017 from a mass grave discovered at the Tuneli site, Miljevina. 

 

 

These victims were first identified through the DNA method, and today their identities have been confirmed by members of their families.

Today, four members of only one family have been identified. These are the spouses Kunovac, Mujo (1922) and Muniba (1929) from Miljevina.

According to the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, they were killed in the house together with their daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Hajra Palali, the wife of Muniba's brother Muharem, was with them in the house at the time.

Hajra Palalija, born in 1934 in Ustikolina, was also officially identified today, the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH announced.

Along with them, the remains of Muniba and Mujo's son Dževad, born in 1955 in Ustikolina, have been officially identified today. He was also killed in 1993 in Miljevina, and his remains, as well as the remains of his parents, were found 24 years later.

Today, Hamid Šabanović, born in 1930 in the village of Hum near Foča, has also been identified.
