ATHENS/SARAJEVO, May 5 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić participated in a meeting of interior ministers of the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEECP) in Athens to discuss improving security co-operation.
It was emphasized that the region and Europe as a whole are exposed to unprecedented security challenges due to the aggression against Ukraine and its implications for the region's internal security.
Therefore, in the adopted joint declaration, the ministers committed themselves to intensify cooperation in order to strengthen the fight against organized crime and a common approach to breaking up criminal networks.
Special attention will be paid to combating cyberattacks, drug trafficking, and smuggling through our region.
It was also agreed to expand coordination on security threats exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, with an emphasis on trafficking in human beings, sexual exploitation of women/children, and potential firearms trafficking activities.
The region's interior ministers also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in preventing illegal migration, the BiH Ministry of Security said.
