SARAJEVO, June 7 (FENA) - During the break of ministerial meeting "Facing Challenges of Mixed Migration in the Region" – security and humanitarian aspects, which is being held in Sarajevo, Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić stated it was emphasized that there should be a unified approach to this problem to avoid negative experiences that took place in 2015.

"We agreed that every state must do registration, create its own base of biometric data and that the base needs to be compatible with base in the EU. When it comes to registration, biometric data and data base, we will see is it possible for the Western Balkans to become part of joint activities of Frontex," said Minister Mektić.

He emphasized it is important "to get back to following bilateral and every other readmission agreements and that way show that we will not allow anyone to abuse any state on this route".

It was also noted that states need to strengthen capacities of their own services and their material-technical equipping and that every state needs to strengthen their border service.

Participants of the meeting were also informed about a meeting held at Brdo near Kranj yesterday. Mektić said that series of specific operational measures was adopted at that meeting to prevent the crisis.

"Today we will try and accept all those conclusions from the yesterday's conference and start implementation immediately", said Mektić.

Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH Semiha Borovac emphasized that as a state BiH needs to create all conditions to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants.

She noted that one of the priorities is to create accommodation capacity, like it was done in Salakovac.

Secretary of State of MoI of Slovenia Boštjan Šefic said they have been monitoring migrant situation in Slovenia since 2015, analyzing everything that has been happening on different routes and last year they noticed significant changes and warned of great probability that a new migration route will appear, considering that good cooperation was established on the old Western Balkan route.

"Unfortunately, we were right and we see that number of illegal migrants who are coming from Greece, over Albania, Montenegro and BiH towards Croatia has been increasing. That is concerning," said Šefic.

He added that the situation is under control, adding that only coordinating action can solve different situations.

"It is very important that we cooperate, secure stability of the region which is very significant from political, economic and every other aspect," said Šefic.

Chief of Criminal Police of Austria Franc Lang said that it is time to discuss actual measures and ways to prevent recurrence of situation from 2015.

He added that one of the important Austrian aims is to get all countries involved, including Western Balkan countries and to solve this situation together.

Head of the IOM Mission (International Organization for Migration) in BiH Peter Van der Auweraert said it is of key importance that all countries in the region have a unified response to this situation.
