SARAJEVO, February 1 (FENA) - Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mijo Krešić led the BiH delegation at the conference "Strengthening Commitments to Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons in Southeast Europe", held in Podgorica, where he emphasized that BiH has begun to systematically address the issue of small arms and light weapons control.
In addition to harmonizing legal regulations and preventive activities, Krešić especially highlighted the record amount of seized and destroyed weapons in 2017 in BiH.
“A total of 10,801 pieces of weapons were collected and destroyed in 2017, which is an outstanding result compared to the previous years. It is especially important to emphasize that the collection and destruction of the said quantities of small arms and light weapons is a result of the successful work of all police agencies in BiH in the fight against illegal arms trafficking,” said Krešić.
On the sidelines of the conference, the BiH delegation, which was consisted of Assistant Minister Ermin Pešto, Advisor to the Office of the Deputy Minister of Security Danijel Nikolić, and Head of the Department for NATO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Momir Brajić, met with the Federal Commissioner of the Government of Germany for Control of Weapons Patricia Flor, and presented her the activities that are being implemented in BiH with the aim of reducing the presence of illegal weapons in the country, stated the Ministry of Security of BiH.
