Zvizdić: We are sending a very positive signal to the EU

SARAJEVO, January 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić in an interview with N1 TV this evening, said that he had a consultative meeting with the entity prime ministers and finance ministers today, which resulted in an agreement and a joint proposal for a response to the seven remaining questions from the European Commission Questionnaire for BiH.

“We were able to achieve, not only an agreement on the remaining questions from the Questionnaire, but definitely we also agreed on the final dynamic of the necessary verification process for all the responses in the local languages ​​and in the English language. In a matter of days we will now be able to completely round up the European Commission Questionnaire for BiH, to finalize everything and send it to Brussels,” said Zvizdić.

Zvizdić stressed that the most important thing is that the Coordination Mechanism has been fully implemented.

“It is highly important that such a complex mechanism in a country that has its specificities, a very complicated political and constitutional order, has been fully functional,” said the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

“With today's agreement and quick finalization of the Questionnaire, we will send a positive signal to the EU, precisely at a stage when a new strategy for the Western Balkans is being created. This underlines the credibility and capacity of BiH, and our full commitment to European integration as the most important foreign policy priority,” said Zvizdić.

He emphasized that it is no longer a matter of months, but weeks, when the answers to the European Commission Questionnaire for BiH is to be submitted to Brussels.

Speaking about the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović to Bosnia and Herzegovina, he said that he expects to finally deal with the outstanding issues and to define the right models to resolve those open issued between BiH and Croatia.

These are issues such as the property of BiH located on the territory of Croatia, adequate access and use of sea ports that are extremely important for the economic development of BiH, the issue of Pelješac Bridge, nuclear waste repository, the use of BiH hydropower in the process of electricity production in Croatia, etc.

“I believe that an adequate approach to resolving all these issues would definitely be a true sign of friendly relations between the two countries,” concluded Zvizdić.
