SARAJEVO, January 15 (FENA) - Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka spoke today with British Ambassador to BiH Edward Ferguson on the project "Connecting Cities of Great Britain and the Western Balkans through Digital Technology - Digital Cities", supported by the UK Government, and implemented by the British Council.
A meeting in connection to the project will be held at the end of January in London with emphasis on connecting cities, cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of digital technologies.
The program will connect 12 cities across the UK with 12 cities in the Western Balkans. The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the 12 nominated cities from the region for participation in the program.
Sarajevo Mayor Skaka informed the Ambassador about the preparatory activities of the City Administration and pointed out that the Smart City project, is one of the 10 priorities, and as such, has been incorporated in the Sarajevo City Policy Paper for the period 2016-2020.
Ambassador Ferguson pointed out that the Embassy of Great Britain is launching a project aimed at supporting the development of the digital sector throughout BiH, and that in this project will cities have very important role in terms of linking business entities, educational institutions and public administration.
Also, one of the topics discussed was the need for the establishment of a direct air link between London and Sarajevo in order to improve communication and business connections, and in particular promotion of tourism potential, stated the Sarajevo City Administration.
