SARAJEVO, January 12 (FENA) - Members of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie Salko Sokolović and Mensura Beganović met today with a representative in the National Assembly of the Republic of France, Frederic Petit, with whom they discussed the possibilities of improving cooperation between state parliaments in the field of education, culture and expansion of French language in BiH.
Mr. Petit, who is also the vice-president of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for BiH in the National Assembly of France and who represents the French in the countries of central and southeastern Europe, was interested in the possibilities of establishing direct cooperation between the highest legislative institutions in France and BiH, with the aim of sending interns from BiH to the French Parliament.
Mr. Petit presented several examples of good practice regarding the establishment of cooperation between state universities in France and BiH in the direction of organizing French language classes at BiH’s universities, as well as the possibilities of twinning of some educational institutions with the aim of spreading the French language, which is an idea that schools in France are already implementing in several European countries.
Emphasizing the fact that the BiH PA hosted a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie for the region of Europe in October last year, members of the BiH PA Delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie supported Mr. Petit's proposals and announced that they would work on their implementation through the activities of the BiH PA.
Mr. Sokolović and Ms. Beganović assessed that greater presence of French in schools and universities in BiH would contribute to the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as attracting a greater number of French investors to BiH, reads the statement from the BiH PA Public Relations Department.
