SARAJEVO, February 19 (FENA) - Members of Bosnia and Herzegovina's rescue services, who in the past ten days participated in the rescue operations of distressed Turkish citizens in the province of Hatay, which was hit by the devastating earthquake on February 6, arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina today.

Upon arrival in Sarajevo, a large number of citizens and family members in front of the Sarajevo City Hall greeted the members of the Mountain Rescue Service of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (GSSFBiH) and the FBiH Specialized Unit for Rescue from the Ruins - USAR of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ).

After the reception in front of the City Hall for rescuers, an official reception was organized at the Center for demining and UXO removal operations in Azići in Ilidža, where the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH Sadik Babur Girgin and Prime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalić addressed the rescuers.

“On behalf of my people and on my own behalf, I thank all of you, dear saviors, good people, who have shown humanity, nobility and courage with this act. I would also like to thank the members of your families, who also made the sacrifice of your departure. Every life you saved is worth all of humanity. You did a great job,” said Girgin.

Prime Minister Novalić welcomed the rescuers and emphasized that the rescuers participated in the most noble act.

“We sent you off ten days ago, we knew that it was a very unpleasant journey and that you could not imagine how difficult this task was. There are those among you who will not be able to forget images you saw for the rest of your lives. You calmed our conscience in a certain way, as we knew we did everything we could to help the Republic of Turkey. I can say that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to invest intensively in your training, equipment, technology, communication,” said Novalić.

President of the FBiH Mountain Rescue Service, Dženadin Veladžić, said that the rescuers returned fulfilled from the difficult mission in Turkey.
