Brussels - Meeting on the Initiative for building defense and security capacities of BiH

SARAJEVO, December 5 (FENA) - The delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO in Brussels and the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo participated in the meeting of recipients of assistance through the Defense and Related Security Capacity Building Initiative (DCB), which was held on December 1 and 2 at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels.  

 

During the meeting, the head of the NATO team for support in the construction of defense security capacities presented the goals of the program, as well as the plans and the way of implementing assistance through the mentioned program. Allies are once again briefed with BiH's requirements, that is, the areas in which BiH needs support. The final plan on the funds that the defense and security sector will receive in building defense and security capacities will be finalized in January, and approved at the ministerial meeting of the NATO alliance in February 2023.
 
This program implies continuous assistance and will be implemented through short-term, medium-term and long-term aid priorities, announced the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
 
Allies and partner countries have already expressed their support in building defense and security capacities during the aforementioned meeting, so it is expected that BiH will receive significant support in the coming period.
 
In the delegation of BiH, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH, the meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Defense of BiH for Policy and Plans Dženan Redžo, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH for Operations Major General Ivica Jerkić, Head of the Military Part of the BiH Mission to NATO and the military representative of BiH at the EU Brigadier Edin Fako, Goran Pranjić from the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO, Brigadier Nebojša Bošnjak and Brigadier Hazim Hodžić from the Joint Staff of the BiH AF, representative of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Samir Rizvo, and Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo Brigadier General Pamela McGaha.
