SARAJEVO, September 30 (FENA) - The Coalition for Free and Fair Elections "Pod lupom" presented a preliminary report on the observation of the General Elections in Sarajevo, and they stated that long-term observers recorded a total of 1,202 irregularities from July 25 to September 25, most of which relate to premature campaigning, trading of seats in polling station committees and vote buying.

The largest number of recorded irregularities refers to SNSD (166), SDA (158), SDP BiH (71), HDZ BiH (56), and SDS (28).

“The largest number of election irregularities refers to 484 cases of premature election campaigns in 67 municipalities/cities in BiH, of which 157 irregularities refer to proven cases of paid advertising on social networks at a time when this is not allowed by the BiH election law, and 384 cases refer to misuse of public resources or functions for the election campaign in 67 municipalities/cities,” said project manager Dario Jovanović.

He added that allegations of vote buying have been recorded and that the price ranges from 50 to 200 KM. Coalition observers reported 27 such cases in 18 municipalities/cities.

The President of the Strategic Committee of the "Pod lupom" Coalition, Vehid Šehić, stated that we have witnessed the trading of seats in polling station committees by political parties, so that a polling station committee of three members, one member must be from one political entity, and there are cases where there are two and three members from the same political entity, which casts doubt on the regularity of the election process.

“This shows that political subjects still did not understand elections as the only democratic way when citizens express their electoral will. They try to reduce that will in every possible way. Regardless of the sanctions, many political subjects change their place in the electoral committees,” said Šehić.

He called on the voters to be observers at the same time and prevent, without disturbing public order and peace, all the expected irregularities.
