SARAJEVO, July 27 (FENA) - The completion of the construction of the bridge over the Sava River near Gradiška will be marked on Friday, July 29.

“Completion yes, but there will be no official opening, given that the access section from the Croatian side is not finished. All the necessary work has been done on the bridge itself when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Vojin Mitrović, Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said in an interview with FENA.

He added that, according to the information at his disposal, it is about a year and a half until "Integral inženjering", which was awarded the job of building the access road from the Croatian side, about four kilometers long, to finish that work.

“The question that arises at the same time is the question of the border crossing on the Croatian side. Last year, at the ministerial meeting in Ljubljana, we launched an initiative to build a joint border crossing on the BiH side, because the border crossing was built a few years ago. It can meet the requirements of the integrated border crossing itself, with certain modifications,” said the minister.

According to him, in this way they would shorten the construction time and save significant funds.

Speaking about the importance of this bridge for BiH, Mitrović said that we must observe the basic TEN-T network. The part of the highway that goes from Doboj to Banja Luka, that is, to Gradiška and Corridor 10, has practically been extended to the TEN-T network.

According to him, this bridge and this section of the highway that will connect BiH with Corridor 10 will also connect it with the European Union.

“In the last ten or 20 years, we have witnessed problems happening in Gradiška, because we have a large influx of goods, both import and export of goods, in addition to passengers. We have huge crowds and all the traffic goes through the city itself. In this way, we have an efficient solution. It is this motorway and the bridge that was built, which will ensure smooth traffic of both goods and passengers. We won't have crowds, we won't have dissatisfaction of citizens but above all of carriers,” said Mitrović.

The project was financed in the same proportion by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, with part of grant funds.

The total value of the works of the complete project with access roads is about 24 million euros including VAT.
