SARAJEVO, July 21 (FENA) - Bisera Turković, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met today with the representative of the German Bundestag, Peter Beyer, and discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Turković welcomed the Resolution on BiH, which was recently adopted in the Bundestag, which represents Germany's strong support for our country, and pointed out that it is important that the obstacles to the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina are recognized in this document.
The importance of obtaining candidate status by the end of this year was reiterated, which would represent a strong signal for all citizens of our country about future EU membership, but at the same time would reduce negative influences in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the context of discussions on the Election Law, the minister emphasized that it is necessary to provide equal rights to all citizens in BiH in the electoral process, which will include judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, and that any changes that will further deepen divisions and discriminate against citizens are not acceptable.
Due to blockages and obstructions in the work of state institutions, it was emphasized, that more than 800 different items are waiting for approval in the BiH Council of Ministers alone, among which are many important documents for the progress of our country and the improvement of the living standards of citizens - it was announced from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
Representative Beyer is a member of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee and special rapporteur of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag on transatlantic relations, the Western Balkans, EU enlargement, and space policy.
