SARAJEVO, June 9 (FENA) - The United States is committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and multiethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the State Department's Office for European and Eurasian Affairs wrote yesterday on its official Twitter account.
"We support the High Representative's efforts to defend fundamental elements of the Dayton Agreement-one state, two entities, and three constituent peoples and other citizens.
The High Representative of the International Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, imposed a decision allocating 12.52 million KM to the Central Election Commission of BiH for the organization of the October general elections.
Schmidt also imposed amendments to the BiH Law on Financing of the Institutions and the BiH Election Law, emphasizing that they "provide permanent and systemic solutions for automatic and continuous financing of elections as well as interim financing in situations when the BiH budget is not adopted."
He added that he was not satisfied because he had to make this decision, which changed the one made by the BiH Council of Ministers "because it shows that the politicians responsible for it were not capable of organizing something that is in itself a procedural matter".
A two-day session of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council was also held in Sarajevo, which reaffirmed its full support for the High Representative in ensuring full compliance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH.
