Miodrag Đurkić indicted for crimes against humanity in the area of Donji Vakuf

SARAJEVO, April 29 (FENA) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against Miodrag Đurkić, born in 1966 in Bugojno, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia, charged with crimes against humanity in Donji Vakuf.

The accused is charged that, in the period from June 21, 1992, until the end of September 1992, during a wide and systematic attack directed against the non-Serb civilian population of the municipality of Donji Vakuf, as a KDZ technician in the SJB Donji Vakuf and the warden of the Vrbaspromet detention facility, which was under the jurisdiction of the Donji Vakuf Public Security Station, he committed persecution of non-Serb civilians in the municipality of Donji Vakuf based on national and religious grounds, violating the rules of international law, including illegal detentions, torture, enforced disappearances and other inhumane acts committed with the intent to cause serious physical and psychological harm.

The prosecution will prove the allegations in the indictment by calling 47 witnesses, examining experts and attaching hundreds of pieces of evidence.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH announced.
