SARAJEVO, January 26 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik, after a meeting with the director of the European External Action Service Angelina Eichhorst in BiH, Matthew Palmer, told reporters that the key issue was election law and electoral reform.
- We from the majority coalition in RS had a conversation. As far as we understand, he will also talk to representatives of the RS opposition. They presented us with their technical agenda, which is to hold a conversation in the morning with the Interdepartmental Working Group for Changing the Election Legislation, and then move to Neum to try to continue talks about that reform - said Dodik.
He said that in those talks, they are trying to get certain solutions that refer to two things - the Presidency of BiH and the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH.
- What they believe is that some small changes to the Constitution will be necessary, as they say, in order to ensure that this new election law is passed. And it can't, of course, without us. We are interested in solutions related to the House of Peoples in the Federation, because all these years we have been completely discriminated against as a people in the Federation. In that regard, we will see how that solution will be proposed - stated Dodik.
He also believes that everyone should be allowed to participate in the elections.
- I think that the solution that has been distributed recently, and it refers to the election of a representative of the Croat people and others in the Federation of BiH, the Bosniak people and others, and in the RS a representative of the Serb people and others, so everyone is included. It may be a bit of a formidable formulation, but it allows everyone who has the right to vote to be able to run and be elected. That is the essence. If they go for that solution, we will support that solution. The constituency of the people must be maintained, a visible position through the political system. There is no imposition - the SNSD leader pointed out.
