SARAJEVO, January 11 (FENA) - This will be a very demanding year and extremely difficult and it is an opportunity to show ultimate responsibility and make a step forward to stabilize relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. What we can do primarily is to stabilize relations in the Federation of BiH, and then at the level of the entire state, said in a statement for FENA the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and President of the HDZ BiH Dragan Čović.

He announced for a mid-next week intensive talks in Sarajevo with representatives of the US and European administrations, Matthew Palmer and Angelina Eichhorst, in order to complete the work on the election law reform.

"I consider this a key precondition for relaxing the relations between Bosniaks and Croats in the FBiH, and then together with partners from the RS, we will try to find a way out that will enable BiH institutions to function more or less normally," added Čović.

In the past two weeks, several online meetings and conferences have been held at the expert level, and in the coming days, experts from the Venice Commission will be consulted to verify the compliance of existing proposals with what is an acceptable legal position within the European arena.

Čović welcomed the conversation that Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and the SDA President Bakir Izetbegović had in Dubrovnik yesterday.

He says that Plenković informed him about that meeting and that it was quite welcomed, "especially at this time when we need to reach concrete agreements with the help of international representatives".

"I call on those who lead the politics in BiH to sit together and put all open issues on the table. There is no alternative to the conversation and the talks should be started immediately. If we look at it in the right way, we can very quickly look for solutions to all these other topics that are a prerequisite for our European progression, but also for economic and social stability.

We have countless topics to talk about, but openly and without things up our sleeves. And what is especially important to me is that we have intensive communication between the representatives of the Bosniak and Croat people.

Everything else, I am afraid, can easily fit into the ambitions of some forces outside this country, which may serve as an alibi for some other global efforts," said in a conversation with FENA Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples and the HDZ president Dragan Čović.
