SARAJEVO, December 30 (FENA) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against Dane Bajić (1936) and Mijodrag Knežević (1955), who are charged with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity.
The Accused are charged that as a commander of the Ljubija Police Station and a member of the Crisis Staff during a large-scale and systematic attack targeting Bosniak and Croat civilians in the Prijedor area and its surroundings, they participated in the unlawful capturing and detention of about 120 Bosniak and Croat civilians in the area of Miska Glava near Ljubija, who were tortured and abused, after which more than 100 victims were shot, killed and buried in mass graves Redak I and Redak II.
The Accused Bajić is charged that as Commander of the Militia Station and member of the Ljubija Crisis Staff, he participated in planning, organizing, ordering, inciting and assisting persecution, illegal deprivation of liberty, imprisonment, torture and killing of these civilians by providing police resources and did nothing to within the framework of its powers and responsibilities, initiate procedures for processing and determining the responsibility of the perpetrators of these acts.
The Accused Knežević is charged with personally participating in the capture, torture and ill-treatment of the victims, bringing them to the location where they were killed, as well as participating in the shooting of the prisoners himself.
Considering that both of the accused are currently located on the territory of Serbia, the accused were questioned in the procedure through International Legal Assistance with Serbia, and in the coming period, international cooperation activities will be intensified in order to prosecute them before judicial institutions of BiH or the Republic of Serbia.
