UNDP-BRIDGE Project for youth dialogue in BiH on issues of common interest

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 19 (FENA) - The start of the BRIDGE project was marked at the headquarters of the United Nations Development Program in BiH (UNDP).

The project aims to support young women and men in Bosnia and Herzegovina to network and engage in dialogue on issues of common interest, exchange ideas, propose solutions and take certain steps.

Through a strategic approach and a range of activities, the project will empower young people to draw attention to important topics that concern them and contribute to positive change in their communities and across the country.

On the occasion of marking the beginning of the implementation of this project, UNDP in BiH gathered students of art academies of the University of Sarajevo, the University of Banja Luka and the University of Mostar (Faculty in Široki Brijeg). Through a painting workshop, they painted their vision of the project's message and presented their artwork to donor representatives and project board members. During the implementation of the project, student works will be applied to various media to promote talented students of the academy, as well as the BRIDGE project itself.

The representative of the Agency for Development Cooperation of the Republic of Italy (AICS) Matteo Evangelista greeted the students of the academies of arts and emphasized that young women and men are the driving force for building inclusive and just societies and addressing climate change.

According to UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in BiH Stephen Kinloch Pichat, young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be supported in taking an active role in addressing the challenges that affect them - climate change, gender equality, high unemployment, inclusion, social cohesion and a sense of exclusion from dialogue, as well as the decision-making process.

The project is supported by the Italian Embassy in BiH together with the Agency for Development Cooperation of the Republic of Italy (AICS). The value of the project is around 860,000 euros, and it is being implemented by UNDP BiH in the period from October 2021 to September 2023. The project partners are the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the Republika Srpska and the FBiH Ministry of Environment and Tourism, UNDP stated.
