SARAJEVO, December 6 (FENA) - Deputies from both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiHPA) Zlatan Begić, Nikola Lovrinović, Edin Musić, Zlatko Miletić, Lazar Prodanović, Lidija Bradara, Alma Čolo and Marina Pendeš spoke today in Sarajevo with the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparations and guarantees of non-repetition of crimes Fabian Salvioli.
UN Special Rapporteur Salvioli, who is on a multi-day working visit to our country, said that the purpose of his visit was to get acquainted with the mechanisms and measures taken by the BiH authorities in the field of truth, justice, reparations, remembrance and guarantees of non-repetition, which were enacted to punish grave violations of human rights and humanitarian laws committed during the previous war in BiH.
They also discussed UN recommendations on human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special focus on issues of transitional justice, war crimes legislation and segregation in education. In this regard, it was said that the Law on the Rights of Victims of Torture in BiH, according to the Strategy for Transitional Justice, is one of the obligations still awaited, and that the unresolved issue of segregation in education is a constant focus of the UN human rights mechanism.
UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparation and guarantee of non-repetition of crimes Fabian Salvioli announced that he would submit a report on his visit to BiH next year, recommending that the authorities in our country recommend measures to adequately address human rights violations and humanitarian laws, announced the Press Service of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
