SARAJEVO, November 29 (FENA) - A new round of negotiations on changes to the Election Law between BiH politicians and representatives of the international community continued today in Sarajevo with representatives of opposition parties who say they have requested only fair and honest elections.
Presidents of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Nermin Nikšić, Our Party Edin Forto, Alliance for a Better Future (SBB) Fahrudin Radončić and representative of the People and Justice Dejan Kovačević met today with the Special Envoy for Electoral Reform of the United States Matthew Palmer and the Director of the European External Action Service Angelina Eichhorst.
All four stressed the importance of joint action of the opposition, whose only goal is to ensure fair and honest elections in 2022, and with the fulfillment of these conditions, it is possible to continue working on changes to the Election Law and related changes to the BiH Constitution.
Nikšić said that no one from the United States or the European Union came to offer BiH solutions, but they came to negotiate and talk, which is why he said he was satisfied with their approach and the fact that they managed to present the demands of opposition parties signed in the state parliament.
Forto stated that their demands are the installation of video surveillance at polling stations and the disabling of changes in polling stations, which is the key to fair elections, but also a condition for discussing any other changes.
Radončić assessed that the representatives of the opposition today showed how important the work they did a few weeks ago was, and that everything they signed in terms of fair and honest elections proved to be a strategic thing.
