SARAJEVO, November 24 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović said that the European Union Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi sent a very clear message that the institutions must function, after a meeting with members of the Presidency of BiH

Džaferović stressed that he reiterated at the meeting that the only possible way out of the situation is for everyone to respect the existing framework in which they operate, and that is the Constitution of BiH, all adopted laws, the continuation of the implementation of 14 priorities of the European Commission, and that work is being done to give BiH candidate status for membership in the European Union as soon as possible.

“Last October in Brussels we had a meeting with the Commissioner for Enlargement and on that occasion BiH was asked to adopt only a few reforms regarding the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, public procurement and conflict of interest and it was said that BiH will get candidate status in the middle of this years. Unfortunately, that did not happen because of everything that Milorad Dodik is doing,” he said.

Džaferović also reiterated that the blockade of institutions is the biggest problem in BiH and that the European path is therefore endangered, since all numerous reforms have been harmonized.

He claims that Commissioner Várhelyi has sent a message that institutions must function, that BiH must be an efficient and functional state, and that the blockade of institutions must be stopped.

BiH Presidency member believes that it is possible to achieve this with a little political will and readiness to respect the principle of the rule of law, i.e. to come to the institutions and make decisions in the institutions of BiH, because no talks about it outside the institutions of BiH are possible.

He also commented on Dodik's statements that he does not respect the decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court, which is the institution that should interpret the BiH Constitution, adding that everything, including state property, must be debated in the state parliament and a law passed, as requested by the Constitutional Court.
