SARAJEVO, October 29 (FENA) - The opposition leaders in the Federation of BiH had the opportunity to hear concrete proposals for changes to the Election Law in BiH for the first time today, said after the opposition meeting in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with EU and US envoys Angelina Eichhorst and Matthew Palmer, the SDP leader Nermin Nikšić.
"We talked about declaring whether we are ready to be part of the negotiations to resolve three important issues. Of course, we are ready to participate in the talks in order to reach a solution, although we also have different proposals," said Nikšić.
He stated that the talks with the international community and the SDA and HDZ go in the direction of direct election and abolition of the ethnic prefix.
"The election of members of the Presidency and the abolition of the ethnic prefix for the members of the Presidency of BiH are being discussed, as well as the election of delegates to the State House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament," he said.
He emphasizes that the SDP cannot support the two constituencies (Čović's proposal) in the FBiH, but that it will decide on all the proposals that will be on the table.
The leader of the SBB, Fahrudin Radončić, said that the indirect election of members of the Presidency has been dropped and that some ideas have been discussed where ethnic prefixes would be deleted," said Radončić.
Speaking of public criticism of U.S. envoy Matthew Palmer, he said Palmer is "a well-meaning mediator who favors neither side."
The President of the People and Justice Party, Elmedin Konaković, pointed out that amendments to the Election Law are possible, according to which it could happen that, for example, Željko Komšić and Dragan Čović could be elected members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He reiterated that the opposition, as he stated, unreservedly supports the deletion of the ethnic prefix.
He pointed out as impossible that in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entity of Republika Srpska, members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina are elected in different ways, ie. that asymmetric solutions are unacceptable.
