Šarović: All initiatives must be implemented in a peaceful manner

SARAJEVO, October 17 (FENA) - After today's meeting of the Main Board of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), the president of this party, Mirko Šarović, stated that the current political situation in the country can be described as "the worst atmosphere since the Dayton Peace Agreement to date."

"We are in a deep crisis and that crisis can be worse than it is now, everyone should be aware of that," said Šarović.

He commented on the announcements of the SNSD President Milorad Dodik that the entity of Republika Srpska would "withdraw its consent for the existence of the Armed Forces, the Indirect Taxation Authority and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council", and that it would expel the SIPA and the OSA from the territory of this entity and establish its own intelligence agency.

"We will certainly not follow the SNSD in their initiatives, but we will establish our own special position on each of these issues," Šarović pointed out.

He underlined that "the SDS stands for the original Dayton Agreement in its program", and in that sense, it has a completely clear position.

"We will always strive that all competencies that have been transferred to the state in one way or another should be returned to the Republika Srpska. That should happen in the same way as they were transferred to the state, and that is in the Parliament and other state institutions, primarily by the votes of the SNSD," said Šarović.

He is of the opinion that all initiatives must be implemented in a peaceful manner without trying to destabilize the state.

"The policy of the SNSD and Milorad Dodik is the greatest danger for the RS and its position under the Dayton PA. The return of jurisdiction is completely legitimate, the only question is how it can be achieved. Milorad Dodik must agree with his coalition partners (SDA, HDZ) to vote for it in the institutions. We wish him success in this. We will vote for the return of competencies and thus give our contribution," stated Šarović.

He referred to an early election for the mayor of Prijedor, saying that the position of the SDS Main Board is that the opposition parties should have a joint candidate.
