SKOPJE, September 28 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović, who is on an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia, believes that it is necessary to implement the documents signed by six Western Balkan countries at the summit in Sofia in November 2020, within the framework of the Berlin Process.

Answering a journalist's question about whether Bosnia and Herzegovina will join the Open Balkans (Mini Schengen) initiative, which now consists of Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia, Džaferović said that agreements were signed at that summit in Sofia, which envisage a common regional market, complete freedom of movement of people, goods, capital and services in all six countries of the Western Balkans.

Dzžaferović reminded that those documents were signed under the supervision and leadership of the European Union within the Berlin Process.

"What exists in these documents is even wider than the content envisaged by the Open Balkans initiative. Therefore, I think that signing the Sofia document is good enough for us. This is not a substitute for our European path, but an initiative on our European path," Džaferović added.

He said he sees no reason to launch new initiatives, but that we need to implement what has already been adopted.

"The question remains why this is not being realized, and there are talks of some new ideas. It is very important not to forget that everything that is the content of the Open Balkans Initiative was previously accepted in Sofia by all six countries of the Western Balkans," Džaferović underlined.

Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania signed agreements in July this year aimed at facilitating trade in the region, creating a single labor market and mutual assistance in emergencies, and a regional initiative formerly called "Mini Schengen" which was officially renamed as Open Balkans Initiative.

They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Facilitating the Import,s Exports and Movement of Goods in the Western Balkans, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Free Access to the Labor Market and an Agreement on Cooperation in Disaster Protection in the Western Balkans.
