USAID marks World Tourism Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, September 27 (FENA) - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is marking September 27, World Tourism Day, with a series of activities aimed at improving the tourism sector and making Bosnia and Herzegovina the most exciting tourist destination in the world.

USAID's Bosnia and Herzegovina Sustainable Tourism Development Project (Tourism) opens the Creating Attractive Festivals training led by Halle Butwin, Director of Special Programs at the prestigious Smithsonian Institution for Folklore and Cultural Heritage. The training is intended for all organizers of cultural festivals and destination management organizations.

Also, USAID Tourism will sign Cooperation Agreements with HoldINA and Energopetrol, which are among the largest gas station chains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and leading regional companies in the Balkans.

The cooperation includes the provision of training based on the official Guidelines and Protocols for Protection against COVID-19 in Tourism to employees of INA and Energopetrol Fresh Corner through the Tourism Academy, an online educational platform for the tourism sector developed by USAID Tourism.

Finally, USAID Tourism will officially present the Online Financial Directory (https://www.turizambih.ba/Online-Finansijski-Direktorij.pdf), a comprehensive document with information on available sources of funding for the tourism sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Thanks to the unique natural beauties and cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as numerous activities carried out by USAID and the local private and public sector, we look forward to a significant recovery and further development of the tourism sector in 2021, stated the USAID in BiH.
