SARAJEVO, September 8 (FENA) - United Nations Regional Director for Development Gwi-Yeop Son and UN Resident Coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina Ingrid Macdonald visited today the vaccination point located in Sarajevo's Juan Antonio Samarach "Zetra" Olympic Hall.

Gwi-Yeop Son told reporters that she had the opportunity to see a well-organized vaccination point where everything works and expressed hope that the citizens of Sarajevo and the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina will access mass vaccination and thus save lives.

"In the background of the vaccination that is taking place now, there were joint efforts of the UN and the representatives of the authorities in BiH and each person contributed and a true partnership was achieved in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic," she added.

UN Resident Coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina Ingrid Macdonald congratulated the KS Government and the Institute of Public Health for providing a vaccination point and encouraged everyone to use the opportunity to vaccinate now that there are enough vaccines.

"As winter comes there are several risky variants of the virus circulating around the world. Now there is an opportunity to protect ourselves because vaccines save lives. By doing so, you are not only protecting yourself but also your community and the medical staff who have borne the heavy burden of the pandemic," she stated.

Understanding how tired people are, she explained that if the opportunity for vaccination is not used, as well as keeping the distance and wearing masks, it will be necessary to introduce more restrictive measures, which will be an additional economic problem.

The checkpoint in Zetra has enough resources to vaccinate 4,000 citizens a day.
