SARAJEVO, August 31 (FENA) - The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not introduce more restrictive measures when it comes to coronavirus pandemic, confirmed today the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić after a meeting organized to define joint activities and measures related to the epidemiological situation and increased number of infected.

Deputy Prime Ministers of FBiH, the FBiH Minister of Health, Director of the Public Health Institute of the FBiH, the Prime Ministers and Ministers of Health of ten cantons and the directors of the cantonal institutes of public health were invited to today's meeting in the FBiH Government building.

“We do not want to introduce lockdowns and apply such measures. There are measures recommended by the profession and they should be respected, and the FBiH Government will continue to adopt framework measures at the suggestion of the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health, while specific and more restrictive measures will depend on the epidemiological situation by cantons,” Novalić explained.

He called on the population to respect the current measures and to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves and their loved ones, because the profession, he said, confirmed that the vaccine protects against more serious forms of illness, hospitalization and mortality.

“We have enough vaccines and we call on the citizens to get vaccinated, and the cantons should provide as many vaccination points as possible. With the Association of Employers, we have launched an initiative to vaccinate employees in all enterprises with the aim of protecting the health of citizens, easier availability of vaccines and faster immunization in order to overcome the new wave of the pandemic,” added Novalić.

He reminded that the new school year is beginning, which is why everyone must make additional efforts to preserve the health of children and educators, and the goal is to continue intensive cooperation with cantons and other relevant organizations in order to overcome the health and economic consequences of the pandemic.

The FBiH Government allocated 540m KM in grants for the cantons last year in the fight against the pandemic, and this year the amount will be similar, the prime minister announced.
