SARAJEVO, August 13 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković warned today that there are only two weeks left until the deadline set by the organizer of "EXPO 2020" for BiH to ensure the most favorable conditions for BiH's participation in this important event.
Namely, the world's largest fair and presentation of entrepreneurship "EXPO Dubai 2020" in the United Arab Emirates will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, but it is still unknown whether BiH entrepreneurs will be able to present themselves at the fair.
The organizer of EXPO 2020 offered to bear all the costs of preparation and development of the program of the six-month presentation of BiH entrepreneurs at this prestigious fair. However, Bosnia and Herzegovina has not yet secured the remaining funding.
“Like everything in our country, this decision is hampered by politics, more precisely by politicians who do not want to do their job, so BiH is in a situation where even two weeks before the deadline given by the organizer to BiH to participate, there is no answer,” warned Turković.
She also says that several times at the sessions of the Council of Ministers of BiH in recent months, she proposed solutions and options to overcome the different opinions of the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Ministry of Finance regarding the proposed bill.
“Some suggested unrealistic expenses, while others obviously had a problem with any investment. I still believe that there are ways to, in cooperation with the real sector and the host, realize participation and prevent the disgrace of the state on the international scene,” underlined Turković.
She expressed fear that this is another attempt to harm the state of BiH by inaction and blockades, and if that is already the case, then the public and citizens must know who is responsible.
