Rao: Pakistan - A story of Endurance, Enthusiasm and Resilience

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 13 (FENA) - There is a famous proverb "Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving; we get stronger and more resilient." This remarkable observation fits well with the case of Pakistan, the nation which over its last 74 years of independence has achieved a position despite having faced challenges and threats throughout its history, said the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to BiH, Muhammad Khalid Rao, on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.

As he stated the location of Pakistan places it in the Eye of the Storm, where some great game is always on. Despite being located in a volatile region, Pakistan has shown unprecedented resilience as an independent nation since 1947 and thus assumed the stature of a progressive and promising nation that not only acts as a guarantor of peace and stability in the region but the entire world at large.

From a nation that started with virtually no resources in 1947, Pakistan is today, the 06th largest nuclear power in the world with its forces amongst the world top ten most powerful armies. From the stature of being a state in search of powerful allies to deter aggressive neighbours, Pakistan has over the years become a security provider for the world, as it is today one of the largest peacekeeping troops contributor to the United Nations.

The story of Pakistan’s success has not remained restricted to defence and security. Pakistan is today, the 22nd largest economy in the world (GDP PPP) with over a trillion dollar economy. From agricultural to high-tech industrial and IT-related commodities and services, Pakistan’s economic diversity holds huge promise for the bright economic future of this nation and rest of the world. Pakistan is today, the largest producer of hand-sewn footballs; 4th largest cotton producer; 5th largest mango producer; and 6th largest sugarcane producer in the world. Recently, the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has also manifested itself as a linchpin in case of Pakistan’s economic rise. The pivotal role of this project in Belt and Road Initiative speaks volumes of the strategic significance of Pakistan. The manner in which Pakistan has witnessed positive growth during the Coronavirus pandemic is also self-explanatory in terms of Pakistan’s massive economic potential.

An important facet of socio-economic landscape of a country remains its tourism potential. Pakistan is today, the world’s third highest potential tourism destination. Besides, its Capital, Islamabad has won the accolades of being the world’s second most beautiful Capital city as well. In addition, five of the world’s highest mountains are in Pakistan including second highest i.e. K-2, that make Pakistan, a paradise for all those interested in adventure tourism.

For a country to emerge as a regional or global player, not only material but human factors also matter a lot. A capable and trained human resource holds the key to turning a country into a global powerhouse. In case of Pakistan, our young population remains our asset. Our skilled engineers and labor force have been instrumental in shaping the modern infrastructural landscape of Gulf countries, the way these are seen today. Pakistani engineers, doctors, PhD scholars and researchers etc. are spread all across the world, serving those countries and earning good repute not only for themselves but also for our country.

"In sum, Pakistan’s story of Endurance, Enthusiasm and Resilience is an inspiration for developing countries. It teaches us as to how a group of people can form a nation amidst different challenges and rise to form a formidable force to reckon with. It shows how through sheer enthusiasm and endurance, a nation can achieve its ultimate goals of prosperity. Pakistan serves as the beacon of hope for all those oppressed nations as well that want their basic rights to be recognized. 74 years of endurance and resilience are just the beginning. The story of success of Pakistanis continues," concludes Ambassador Rao.
