SARAJEVO, August 9 (FENA) - Milomir Savčić, whose indictment for participation in genocide was confirmed at the beginning of last year, has been remanded in custody for violating court injunctions, the media reported, citing Savčić's defense.

Defense counsel announced an appeal against this decision of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal deadline of three days.

Savčić, head of the Veterans’ Association of the Republika Srpska, who was commander of the 65th Protective Motorized Regiment at the RS Army's General Staff during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, violated the measures prohibiting him from communicating with the media in connection with his court case.

In his media appearances, Savčić, among other things, questioned the court decision which confirmed that genocide was committed in Srebrenica during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Savčić with knowing and supporting the intention of the main perpetrators to partially exterminate the national, ethnic and religious group of Bosniaks, aiding and abetting the killing of male members of the Bosniak group and causing grievous bodily harm and psychiatric injury.
