SARAJEVO, July 9 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected in two rounds of voting to declare July 11 a Day of Mourning throughout BiH because ministers from the BiH entity of Republika Srpska voted against such a decision.
The BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD) said earlier that the proposal to declare July 11 a Day of Mourning came late and that ministers would consider it at one of the next sessions, but today he refused to support such an initiative proposed by the BiH Foreign Minister. Bisera Turković (SDA).
There were six votes in favor of the proposal (Bosniak and Croat ministers), while the chairman and three Serb ministers voted against the decision, although this July 11 will mark the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide and 19 murdered and identified victims will be buried this year.
The Srebrenica genocide was committed between July 13 and 19, 1995 when 8,372 Bosniak men and boys from and around Srebrenica were murdered.
