Regional cooperation in focus of plenary session of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum

SARAJEVO, June 20 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik and BiH Presidency members Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović participated in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum "Innovative Diplomacy: New Era, New Approaches" on Friday, which gathered a significant number of leaders from all over of the world.
 
The plenary session began with an introductory address by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and the forum was opened by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Presidency of BiH announced.
 
Within the plenary part, the members of the Presidency of BiH were panelists at the session "How can we strengthen regional solidarity given the lessons learned?". In addition to the members of the Presidency of BiH, the session was also attended by the President of North Macedonia Stevo Penderovski and the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Aureliu Ciocoi.
 
The panelists discussed regional cooperation and the improvement of bilateral and multilateral relations. Special emphasis was placed on the pandemic and the negative effects on the economy and society as a whole, as well as on the modalities for overcoming the international crisis caused by the coronavirus.
 
As stated in the statement, the vulnerability of the current international pandemic response system was noticed, as well as the solidarity expressed among the countries of the region in the process of population immunization. In addition to solidarity in response to the pandemic, good regional relations and cooperation have resulted in the implementation of significant infrastructure and construction projects, which will have a positive impact on the economies of countries in the region, the panelists agree.
 
The panel discussed the challenges that countries in the region are facing when it comes to illegal migration and the lack of an adequate international response to the migrant crisis.
 
The participants in the panel also exchanged opinions on the current political issues of strategic interest for strengthening and improving regional cooperation, especially in the context of European integration, the Presidency of BiH announced.
